Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is out of contract in 2023 and his replacement looks set to join this summer.

Tottenham are keeping tabs on a number of goalkeeper options to step in as Hugo Lloris’ ‘long-term successor’, according to reports. Lloris has been Tottenham’s No 1 keeper for over a decade now after joining the club in 2012.
But the Frenchman has come under pressure this season due to a number of scoring errors and, at 36 years of age, Tottenham are now looking for their next long-term goalkeeper. He came under scrutiny once again last month after fumbling Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net in the north London derby defeat to Arsenal.
However, Lloris has also come to Tottenham’s rescue this season as well, keeping seven clean sheets. He was injured and missed Tottenham’s last game in all competitions with a knee problem when Fraser Forster came on for the 36-year-old.
The former Celtic and Southampton keeper does not appear to be a long-term solution to replacing Lloris and the latter is expected to reclaim his position in goal after returning from injury. But Lloris’ future looks less certain outside the summer transfer window with Spurs reportedly set to look for a new goalkeeper at the end of the season.

According to Football London, Spurs have been exploring the market for a new goalkeeper for several years. Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is said to be on Tottenham’s radar, but that suggests Tottenham will be looking at a younger option.
The report claims that young Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is one of Tottenham’s top targets, despite his reported £88m release clause. But it has been suggested that Valencia’s financial woes, as well as the very real threat of relegation, will lead to a ‘substantially lower valuation’ this summer.
Premier League goalkeepers David Raya, Robert Sanchez, Dean Henderson and Jordan Pickford are also reportedly options Tottenham are looking at, although the latter recently signed a new contract with Everton. Raya has received rave reviews for his performances in goal at Brentford this season and will be considered a local player, as will Brighton goalkeeper Sanchez.
Henderson will also be looking for a new club this summer with Manchester United keen to retain David de Gea’s services. The sixth man on Tottenham’s list is arguably one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in Europe in Mike Maignan.
The AC Milan star was name-checked by Lloris himself as the man who replaced him as France’s new number 1. The 27-year-old kept a record 17 clean sheets last season as he helped Italy win their first Serie A title. in 11 years.
Even more options are likely to be explored by Tottenham between now and the end of the season and it seems increasingly likely that a replacement for Lloris will be signed in the near future.
