Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle are set discuss a contract extension for Miguel Almiron after yet another impressive display in a 3-0 victory over Leicester.
His current deal expires in 18 months time, however it seems he’ll be rewarded with a new deal and improved terms after becoming an integral part of the club’s first-team.
The Paraguay scored his ninth goal of the season – the same amount he scored in his first 110 appearances- in a win over the Foxes that lifted us into second in the Premier League.
Almiron has been crucial to Eddie Howe’s style of play since his arrival 12 months ago – his high intensity and pressing ability has always been important, but he has now added goals to his game and looks a constant threat.
The 28-year-old is currently on track to be one of the players of the season in the whole league and epitomises the impact that Howe has had on the players who seemed practically useless under Steve Bruce.
His current contract lasts until 2024, but it is likely that Newcastle won’t want to risk him leaving for a cut-price deal in the next 12 months and will begin talks to extend his stay very soon.
