Paul Pogba wanted talks with Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag before sealing Juventus move

Manchester United cut Paul Pogba in the summer, with the midfielder joining Juventus.

Manchester United fans recently urged the club to re-sign Paul Pogba following the decision to drop Juventus by 15 points. The Old Lady was penalized following an investigation into her transfer transactions. But although the midfielder wanted to meet Erik ten Hag before his departure, that meeting never came to fruition.

Last weekend, a section of Manchester United fans took to social media calling for Pogba’s return.

The midfielder may have been underwhelmed during his six years at Old Trafford but, with Casemiro at the club, some now think he would thrive in his current squad.

In the summer, before his departure from United, it was reported that the midfielder wanted talks with Ten Hag.

The 29-year-old was, it seems, open to staying at United – despite the Red Devils working under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Pogba’s contract was running out, but despite regularly flirting with leaving United, he was open to possibilities.

Certainly, documentary footage of him suggested he wanted to stay put – with the 2018 World Cup winner lamenting the fact that United never made a substantial attempt to lock him into a new deal.

However, in the end, Pogba never got the meeting he wanted.

Ten Hag knew that United needed to plan for the future rather than relying on inconsistent players from the past.

And Pogba was then allowed to leave for Juventus on a free transfer, with the midfielder plagued by injuries in the short time since.

The Frenchman, who enjoyed great success with Velha Senhora early in his career, has yet to make a single official appearance for the club.

And United are not even considering the possibility of a Pogba return, with Ten Hag still on the hunt for a new striker.

Many felt the club’s transfer deal was done when they captured Wout Weghorst earlier this month.

The Dutch international joined from Burnley on loan, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Besiktas.

But United are open to signing another striker on a temporary basis should the right opportunity arise.

No names are currently on the board to join the Red Devils.

But it will be fascinating to see what happens as United look to progress in the four competitions they are currently in.

Meanwhile, speaking in September, Pogba expressed his delight at returning to Juventus.

“I like to think and say that it was my heart that made the choice to return to Juventus. Maybe it’s also the right time to come back here,” Pogba told GQ Italia.

“The last three years in Manchester, also conditioned by injuries, didn’t go the way I wanted, it’s no mystery.

“Juventus had not won the Scudetto for two years.

“It was a good challenge for both of us, and maybe it was the right time for us to come together and try to take back our rightful place: me and Juventus.

“I know inside that this shirt is very special. It brings out my best. We built a good history with this team, which I never forgot even when I left.

“Coming back here for me is always a reason to try even harder, encourage me to do well. I never had any doubts that this is my place.
