It looks like Jack Wylie is the latest teenage talent Newcastle United are looking to bring in.
As reported by The Athletic, the club’s recruitment team have been showing interest in the Rangers talent currently shining in the under-18 set up.
The Scott also has admirers at Manchester United and Arsenal, but the SPL giants are hoping to tie him down to a new deal.
He initially operated as a ball-playing midfielder, yet has recently developed into a right-back who sometimes fills in at centre-back.
Wylie has already represented Scotland’s under-16 side and recently featured in their friendly with Denmark last month; a game that was watched by scouts from Old Trafford and the Emirates.
Although he’s well off first-team football, it’s interesting to see the club linked with another right-back, with recent reports suggesting we are on the lookout for long-term replacements for Kieran Trippier.
This isn’t the first Rangers youngster we’ve been credited with an interest in over the past year, as Alex Lowry, Cole McKinnon and Leon King have also been tracked.
With Dan Ashworth already making his mark, bringing in Aussie sensation Garang Kuol for £600,000, it’ll be refreshing to see the club invest in future stars – and develop our own – in a bid to bolster our academy.
