The Dallas Mavericks (9-6) defeated the Denver Nuggets (9-6) Friday night at American Airlines Center on the back of a 50th career triple-double by Luka Doncic.
Doncic, 23, joins Oscar Robertson as the only two players to reach 50 triple-doubles at age 23 or younger.
Incredible! Luka Doncic scores a basket with his shoulder
His 50th triple-double consisted of 33 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
Over half of Doncic’s career triple-doubles have come with at least 30 points scored.
All other players in Mavericks history combine for just 40 triple-doubles and 21 of those belong to head coach Jason Kidd.
Luka Doncic makes sure to pass Magic Johnson
Doncic remained in the game to start the fourth quarter despite Dallas leading by 22 points.
He only needed one more rebound to reach the milestone one game faster than Magic Johnson, who got there at 279 games.
Doncic is now etched into NBA history be reaching 50 triple-doubles in 278 games, while Robertson — reached the mark at 111 games — will likely always keep the No. 1 spot.
Drafted third overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, Doncic is already considered a snub from the Top 75 list of all-time greats, and he’s just getting started.
