Gareth Southgate’s ‘Teacher’s Sweetheart’ Set to Play Crucial Role in England Despite Criticism – Litik Klitik

England midfielder Mason Mount played his part in beating Iran in England’s first game and is expected to contribute again when Gareth Southgate’s side face the United States

Mason Mount has regularly been one of the first names in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and has been tipped to continue his impressive form despite criticism from some quarters.

The Chelsea player has been a regular for club and country since making his debut at Stamford Bridge. He was a big part of the Blues side that won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel in 2021, before helping his side reach the European Championship final that same summer.

That hasn’t stopped some critics from taking aim, however, with the 23-year-old looking to earn the status of a favorite teacher among some. However, former England international Adam Lallana – another man who has garnered such a reputation in the past – doesn’t see that as a bad thing.

Writing for The Times, Lallana praised Mount’s role in Jude Bellingham’s goal for England on Monday. “It shows a real tactical understanding,” said the 34-year-old.

“That’s why he’s a manager’s dream. England’s glamor squad would have been to play Phil Foden as number 10 alongside Bukayo Saka and [Raheem] Sterling, but picking Mount was another one of the connections Gareth Southgate got right .

“He implements on the pitch what Southgate wants from his team and he will do that at Chelsea too. When Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool in October 2015, I tried to do just that, just as I am now under Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton. That might earn you the teacher’s pet tag, but it’s a compliment.”

While Mount remains a regular for both club and country, Chelsea’s struggles have seen him draw some criticism. After a slow start under Thomas Tuchel, the London side are still outside the Premier League’s top four with Graham Potter at the helm.

The midfielder recently admitted to getting sticked by his teammates because of multiple man of the match awards. “The lads have beaten me in the last two games where I’ve been man of the match as they don’t think I deserved it, but today I don’t think I deserve it,” he said after the Champions League group stage. victory over Dinamo Zagreb.Yhu IJk JKK JHS JJK Ert Jakk KKA KLLA ouOA HHAs JJAJ

Lallana spoke a little further about the criticisms of a man who is still two years younger than the former Liverpool player when he made his England debut. He pointed to Mount’s late Champions League assist and goal against Germany in September as proof of his on-field contribution at a time when some are asking questions.

“Sometimes I hear Mount comments like, ‘What does he do?’” Lallana continued. “Perhaps this is based on judging players only on goals and assists. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course, but that is complete nonsense to me. I think he would improve any team in the world.”
