Chelsea transfer news: Find out all the latest rumors including Leandro Trossard, Marcus Thuram and Christian Pulisic updates
Here’s Chelsea’s transfer window on Monday 9 January.
Chelsea were dealt a major blow to their January transfer window plans, with Graham Potter looking to bolster their front line. Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber announced the club had no intention of selling players this month amid the Blues’ interest in Leandro Trossard.
Speaking to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Barber revealed that the Seagulls have no plans to go into business in January. But, the Brighton chief conceded that a move could happen, claiming “You can never say never about anything in this business.”
“We’re very realistic, we’ll be interested in Alexis, we’ll be interested in Moises, and we’ll be interested in Rob Sanchez,” Barber said. “We’ve had eight players in the World Cup, more than at any other time in the club’s history combined.
“It doesn’t change anything. If it’s right for us, we’ll do something. If it’s not right for us or right for our player, we definitely won’t. No plans to do anything in this winter window. Note, but of course you can never say any.” something in this field.”
Arsenal Thuram kidnapped
It seems that Todd Boyle is preparing to hijack another transfer plan for Arsenal, as Chelsea consider a move for Borussia Mönchengladbach star Marcus Thuram. The 25-year-old striker has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League recently amid an increasingly uncertain future in the Bundesliga.
The striker’s impressive displays brought massive interest in his signature, with Arsenal reportedly keeping a close eye on his progress. Ahead of the January transfer window, Thuram was interested in the Gunners, according to Milan Live.
The report stated that the Frenchman has been on Mikel Arteta’s radar “for some time now”. Now, new reports from Fabrizio Romano outline Chelsea’s newfound interest in Thuram – just days after the Blues broke ground with Arsenal for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhailo Modric.
Arsenal made their first attempt to sign the Ukrainian less than a week before the January transfer window opens, football.london understands. And now, the west Londoners are said to be keen on signing Modric.
According to Romano, the Blues have opened “talks” to explore a January deal for Thuram, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer if he does not sign an extension at Borussia Park. Boehly is set to face stiff competition for Thuram’s signature, with “several top clubs” – such as Arsenal – in the running.
Pulisic transfer update
Chelsea star Christian Pulisic could leave the club this month if the Blues sign the winger in the January transfer window.
Talk of the USMNT star leaving Stamford Bridge has declined, but transfer boss Fabrizio Romano has given Pulisic an update as it appears the departure will only be sanctioned if Chelsea can bring in a replacement.
“Of course, it depends on the clubs bidding and many other factors. So far it is a scenario, not a negotiation.”
